How many birds can you fit on one feeder?

I’m not really much of an ornithologist.
I don’t recognise people very often – no.matter how well I know them or how recently I’ve met them – so it was never likely that I’d be able to recognise much more than a Robin or a blackbird.
But nonetheless I do enjoy watching the birds on our feeders, and for some reason, this year we seem to be getting more than ever.
I counted 5 birds all feeding at the same time this morning, on a single seed-filled feeder.
And that we had still more on the ground, on the fat slab, and in the tray of bird seed.
And I am getting a little better at recognising a few of them, I think – so I know that today we’ve had a LOT of great tits, plus the occasional sparrow, a couple of nuthatches, chaffinches and a beautiful woodpecker.
And a few squirrels.
Now I’m not accusing anyone, but I put out a large block of seed-studded suet yesterday. It must have weighed around 400 grams (a pound in old money) and is roughly cylindrical – about 12cm across and 15cm tall.
And today that’s gone. Completely vanished. No remnants on the ground, just gone.
I find it hard to imagine a bird – even one of the buzzards – flying off with the whole thing, so that takes is back to the squirrels.
I’m not saying it was you, just that I’m watching you.
